Fortunately, many of them are touring, so I get to catch them regularly in DC.  It's not the same as SXSW, but it can be much better.  At SXSW, most artists get less than an hour to showcase their music.  Sometimes they get as little as 20 minutes. But my GIANT clown arms (which turned out to be acute exertional rhabdomyolysis) could not keep me away from seeing The National at the 9:30 Club.
